Alice Ming Wai Jim is Associate Professor in the Department of Art History at Concordia University where she teaches courses on contemporary art, media art, and ethnocultural art histories. She received her MA in Art History from Concordia University in 1996 and her PhD from McGill University in 2004. Before joining the faculty at Concordia, Jim was Curator of the Vancouver International Centre for Contemporary Asian Art (Centre A) in Vancouver from 2003 to 2006. She is currently researching on global art histories in Canada and contemporary Chinese art in urban-themed exhibitions. Her recent projects include the exhibition and catalogue “Rearranging Desires: Curating the ‘Other’ Within” and the symposium “About Culturally-Specific Work” for the Faculty of Fine Arts Gallery at Concordia in October 2008.
