"This film, originally in 13 episodes and later extended to 39, tells of Hammy the Hamster, a rat, and a guinea pig, who live by the water's edge. This unusual film, using partially tamed animals and artfully dubbed in human voices was produced for the entertainment of very young children. It hints at elementary education in the Visual Association of Words and Action. Certificate of Merit, Twelfth Annual Canadian Film Awards 1959-1960."
