"Illustrates the manufacture of aluminum sheets, later transformed into products ranging from roofing to wrapping foil, at Northern Aluminium Company Limited's (NORAL) continuous strip rolling mill in Rogerstone, Wales. NORAL had established mills at Banbury, Birmingham and Rogerstone but saw the need for a facility that could accommodate largescale production. The new mill at Rogerstone used the latest methods in production on a large scale for 1952. Long lines of machinery allow ingots to be rolled in a continuous process. The hotline, an outstanding feature of the mill, measured one third of a mile long enabling very large ingots to be rolled in a continuous process. Tens of thousands of tons of aluminum ingots from the smelting works of Canada are brought ashore each year. The process of reducing and rolling these ingots into a long sheet of aluminum is shown. The Rogerstone facility has increased the aluminum sheet production of Great Britain by more than a third."

"Possessing the largest rolling mill outside the North American continent, Rogerstone in Wales is the site of Northern Aluminum's up-to-date processing plant. Scale models of the plant help to present a clear picture of its operating methods, while shots of various operations give some idea of the complex automatic methods being used."
