"This film shows the opening of the first session of Parliament in it's new building, on 26 February 1920. The front of the building is shown as cars arrive and people emerge from them; a Guard of Honour marches past; His Excellency the Duke of Devonshire, Governor-General of Canada arrives in a carriage. Inside the chamber, people are shown entering and being seated; everyone stands as the Honourable Gentlemen of the Senate, led by Colonel Chambers Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, enter the room; new members enter, followed by the Justices of the Supreme Court. Finally, the Governor-General enters and sits in the throne; the camera tilts up to show the crowded gallery sitting above. After reading his Address from the Throne, the Governor-General stands in a receiving line to greet his guests."
