"This film is a survey of the ways hypnosis is used by physicians and surgeons. Brief opening sequence reviews past uses of hypnosis for healing - by Mesmer, Charcot, Freud and others - and provide background information and historical perspective. Interviews with patients who have undergone successful hypnotherapy indicate present-day uses of hypnosis, and the filming of an actual surgical operation shows hypnotism in use as a psychological aid and an anaesthetic. Dr. Nathan Schecter is the hypnotist in the film. Shot on location at the Civic Hospital, Ottawa."
