"Intended by the union as a warning to letter carriers against cutting corners, this film demonstrates the hazards of such practices. An animated letter carrier is shown taking short cuts as he travels his route. The narrator warns that once short cuts are started they must be continued throughout the year to maintain the established work pace. With enough carriers behaving this way job losses will occur when the illusion of a letter carrier surplus is noticed. The film concludes with the statement: '...fellow like that could get a lot of free time, more than he reckons, because his job is at stake.' Wooden stakes are symbolically driven through the letter carriers mail bag as the credits roll."
