"This is a story of a respiratory cripple - a man who suffers from emphysema. There are more than 150,000 Canadians like him. It is the fastest growing lung ailment today and it kills over 1500 people a year in Canada. Emphysema sufferers find even walking up stairs exhausting. There is no cure for this disease yet. Christmas seals finance medical research and an education program, in an effort to find a cure and combat the disease. A significant factor is that 90% of emphysema sufferers smoke."
