"The work of the Toronto Rehabilitation Centre with heart attack victims is covered in this film. After a discussion with these men about heart disease, Dr Kavanagh starts them on an exercise program of walking and jogging. Their exercise prescription is determined by bicycle stress testing, in which blood pressure, oxygen consumption and electrocardiograms are taken. Some people are monitored as they exercise through telemetry. Although causes of heart disease are unknown, risk factors include high blood pressure, being male, high blood fat, lack of physical activity, unstable diabetes, heredity and smoking. Some men enjoy the exercise program of endurance fitness so much that they do marathon running. Several compete in the Boston marathon, scenes of which end the film."
