"This film narrates a journey through the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Waterway from Fort Williams to the Atlantic Ocean. The route is as follows: from Fort Williams and Port Arthur to Thunder Cape; throught the canal at Sault Ste. Marie to Lake Huron; South past Georgian Bay and Manitoulin Island; through Lake St. Clair and the St. Clair River to Windsor and Detroit; down the Detroit River into Lake Erie; East to Port Colbourne and the Welland Canal, bypassing Niagara Falls; North to Port Dalhousie on Lake Ontario, as well as Hamilton and Burlington Beach; through Lake Ontario to Toronto before continuing to the St. Lawrence River, past the Thousand Islands and the Lachine Rapids to Montreal. The journey's final leg is from Montreal to Quebec City and then the Atlantic Ocean. The journey is narrated by intertitles, scenic images and an animated map of the region. Important terms such as cape, canal, lock, island, isthmus, bay, river and mountain are defined and illustrated by a mix of animated and live action images. The film makes use of aerial photography to point out various landscapes, cities and geographical formations. "
