"Beginning with a brief history of the earth and the Sudbury Ore Body, this film uses micro-photography, animation, and actuality footage to explain and illustrate, step-by-step, the processing of ore in the Sudbury, Ontario plants of the International Nickel Company of Canada Ltd. Footage shows the magnetic separation of massive and disseminated ores and the smelting of the massive ore; the grinding, classifying, flotation, thickening, concentration, roasting, calcining, and melting of the disseminated ores; the Bessemer Convertor treatment of the re-united ores; the casting, crushing, and re-grinding of the cast metal; the magnetic separation of its constituent elements; the sintering of nickel; the smelting of copper in Inco's new oxygen flash smelting furnace; and the recovery of iron ore by ammonia leeching. The process is explained with the help of a flow chart to which the film returns regularly. Footage also includes shots of a nearby Canadian Industries Limited plant where Inco's sulphur is recovered and processed."

"The film opens with one conception of the history of the formation of the earth as a preamble to explaining the Sudbury ore body. The ore consists of copper, nickel and iron in combination with sulphur and rock, and consists of two types - massive and disseminated. All steps of separation and refining are treated in great detail - grinding (rod mill, ball mill, classifier), flotation, thickeners, concentrators, roasting, reverbatory furnaces, converters, magnetic separators and oxygen flash smelting furnace."
