"To obtain the angle of inclination and the true length of a line without using auxiliary views, rotate the line (keeping one end stationary) until it parallels the profile plane. Likewise, rotate it in this plane until it parallels the horizontal view, then in the horizontal plane until it parallels the vertical plane, where the true angle and length can be seen."
