"Documentary on the policies and personality of the new leader of the Progressive Conservative Party, the Honourable John Bracken. Selected sequences of the 1942 Leadership Convention in Winnipeg show Lionel Baxter presiding over the opening ceremonies; leadership candidates Howard Green, the Honourable Harry H. Stevens, Murdo A. Macpherson and John Diefenbaker addressing the Convention; and John Bracken making his acceptance speech. Beginning with his own farming roots in Seeley's Bay, Ontario, the new leader makes contact with a cross-section of communities across the country. He is seen laying a wreath on the grave of Sir John A. MacDonald in Kingston in the presence of his wife and a group of friends; visiting a mine in Nova Scotia where he descends the mine shaft and takes part in the operation; and inspecting the shipyards at Vancouver. Overseas, Bracken visits wounded Canadian soldiers in a Red Cross hospital; is greeted by General Crerar, Commander of the First Canadian Army; and talks to Canadian servicemen in Germany and Italy."
