"The Port of Toronto - a modern major world port. Through it pass such varied articles as breakfast cereals, shoes, microphones, spotlights, and wheels. Plus many, many others. The original plan was drawn up in 1912. Since then even the geography has changed and in some places where once there was water there is now land. A modern port provides the means to get the goods to market and 13,000 freight cars are loaded each month in Toronto yards. There are new changes to come. A plan now provides for an outer harbour, a protected entrance and a new island with its own inter-city air bus. A projected residential complex to be called 'Harbour City' will provide living space for another 60,000 people in a unique setting with covered walkways along side canals. Tomorrow's waterfront today - a far cry from the old 'dockside area'."
