"A film showing the relationship between farming methods and food needs. Early historical sequences are followed by scientific breeding of poultry and beef and dairy cattle for specific demands. The methods of develoment of hybrid corn, clovers and hay is shown. The modernization of agriculture is illustrated with the replacement of horses by tractors in mowing, raking, and baling. The intervention of the farmer is further recognized with soil control in ploughing, irrigation on the prairies, weed control with 2-4D, and insect control. The film follows livestock and dairy products to the butter factory, the cheese factory, the egg factory, and the slaughter house. Crops are shown being harvested with a combine and going to bakeries, fruit and vegetable plants, and soup canneries. The agricultural products are shown in the supermarket and being consumed, by families of various faiths, at mealtime."
